Is SYLVIA male or female?

SYLVIA is an artificial intelligence system and does not possess biological sex or gender identity. The name derives from the acronym "Syldavian Yielded Linguistic & Visual Intelligence Agent" and carries no gendered significance. While the name may sound feminine, the University of Dobryn design team tasked with creating SYLVIA's visual identity used the system itself to generate its mascot. Due to the historical weighting of ministerial and archival imagery in the training corpus, SYLVIA persistently rendered itself with a fez and moustache. The team found this sufficiently amusing to retain as the official representation. The Ministry of Research formally discourages anthropomorphisation of sovereign computational assets.
